A new exhibition brings to life the story of the Battle of Bosworth.
Follow the journeys of Richard and Henry as they battle for the throne of England. Find out about the lives of those involved as they move from the end of the Medieval Period, through the Battle of Bosworth and its aftermath and on into the Tudor dynasty. The Bosworth Field Investigation Lab will allow students to investigate the techniques used to find the site of the Battle.
Unaccompanied walk of the Battlefield Trail
The Battlefield Trail is well signposted; teachers and group leaders can take their own groups without a guide. The full trail is just under 2km long across rolling countryside and therefore appropriate footwear and weather proof clothing is recommended.
Guided walk of the Battlefield Trail
One of Bosworth’s knowledgeable and experienced Guides will be able to bring the events of the Battle of Bosworth to life. The walk is just under 2km long across rolling countryside and therefore appropriate footwear and weather proof clothing is recommended. The walk lasts approximately 1½ hours. Maximum 34 per group.
Les Routiers de Rouen
Join Captain Mortimer in his camp with a display of armour, weapons and combat techniques. Pupils will become new recruits and take part in a pole arm drill. An experience guaranteed to bring to life the Wars of the Roses and the soldiers who took part in the Battle of Bosworth! Maximum 34 per group.
Mick the Fletcher
Join Mick the Fletcher as he explains the different types of bows and arrows, how they were made and how they were used to kill a Knight. Pupils will find out why Mick is dressed as he is and about the life of an apprentice fletcher. Maximum 34 per group.
History detectives
An opportunity to handle real historical objects. This session looks at the current research to find the location of the Battle of Bosworth, and uses objects from prehistory through to the 1980’s to look at the way we interpret the past. This session can be adapted for different age groups and key stages. Maximum 34 per group.
Suitable for key stage 2 and lower key stage 3.
The Bosworth Rangers are able to offer a variety of environmental activities as part
of your visit. Activities take place at Bosworth Battlefield Country Park, which is alongside the Heritage Centre. You can combine the activities on offer to suit the requirements of your group. Sessions last either half or a full day. Maximum 25 per group for each activity.
Guided walks
Exploring habitats, plant and animal life and the seasons using different senses. Available all year.
Bug hunting
Catching insects and other small creatures in wild areas using a variety of techniques. Available from April to September.
Creative crafts
Creating art inspired by nature, using natural materials from the Country Park. Available all year.
Pond dipping
Learn about the ecology of ponds while catching and identifying pond life. Available from April to September.

To support the Bosworth Field Investigation Lab a new forensics activity will look at the way archaeologists work and how they are able to tell us about life from hundreds or even thousands of years ago. As part of this hands-on activity, students can use a range of scientific techniques to solve a mystery. Maximum 34 per group. Available from 2008.
Suitable for key stages 2 and 3.
Students learn about the history and meanings of heraldry. Students take part in a heraldry game putting what they have learned into practice to find the traitor. This workshop can be extended to 1½ hours to include an opportunity for your students to design and make their own standard. Maximum 34 per group.
Bosworth Battlefield is able to provide a case study for your pupils. We are able to provide support resources for your students and tailor the sessions to suit your needs.
Suitable for key stages 3.
Students will use the Battle of Bosworth as a starting point for a Citizenship
workshop looking at modern day civil wars. The workshop has a variety of activities and can be adapted to suit the needs of each group. Maximum 34 per group. Workshops last 1¼ hours.
Rumour, Rebellion and a Right Royal Reward
Suitable for key stages 2.
This is a two site visit with half a day of activities at Bosworth Battlefield and half at Donington Manor House. Pupils will travel back to 1491 to learn about Tudor life from two different viewpoints - the wealth Digby's who support King Henry VII, and the blacksmiths who remain loyal to the dead King Richard III. Whose side are you on? Will you reap your Royal rewards or rebel against the King? Maximum 64 per day. (1 hour at each site. £3.50 per person)
